Measuring Tips:
- When measuring, never use a cloth, string, or paper tape measure, as they will stretch and obscure your measurements. If you are making a pattern, use cardboard and remember we will make the cut exactly the way the pattern is so be accurate. There is a 1/8" (+ or -) tolerance on the glass cutting. Leave room for anything the glass is going into; frame, table, window, door, etc…. Always measure twice, three times is better.
Glass and Mirror Care:
- When cleaning your mirror, or glass, always spray the cleaner onto the rag, not the glass. It can run down to the bottom and get lodged into a crack or gap in its frame and ultimately cause the glass or mirror to turn black. For best results we recommend "High Sheen" cleaner, which we stock in our shop. Always use a lint free rag or paper towel to prevent scratching.
- If gluing a mirror to the wall, an L metal or some sort of mechanical fastening should be used in the event of glue failure. The glue is strong, but not strong enough alone to hold the mirror. Mirror or any glass will seek a straight line unless mechanical fasteners are holding the glass in place (clamps, tape, molding).
- If insulated glass looks like it is building up moisture or is foggy between the panes, they must be replaced. Once the seal on an insulated unit is broken, it is bad and can not be fixed.
Shower Care:
-
In order to keep your shower at top shape, regular maintenance is recommended. Failure to do so may cause water spots on the glass and, if remains for a long period of time, may damage the glass. If it is not maintained routinely or if you have hard water, it may be necessary to use a water stain remover. We carry a product called "A-Maz", which we highly recommend. As your frame-less door is breaking in, it may be necessary for us to come back to make adjustments. Should hinges start squeaking, call us immediately.
Hardware Care:
- Should squeaking occur, contact us immediately. Do not spray lubricating sprays like WD40 directly on frame-less hinges. Instead, spray it onto a screwdriver or nail, and let oil drip onto hinges. Never use an abrasive cleaner such as Comet on your hardware. If mineral deposits form, mix a couple of drops of a mild liquid soap (such as Ivory) into a cup of warm water. Clean the hardware using a soft cloth, rinse with warm water, and dry.
